Certainly too late in watching this masterpiece.
But better late than never.
This one is definitely not for masses and is not mundane cinema
The dialect, the plot the treatment all too divergent
Rather unprecedent and gory, the opening scenes might make you uncomfortable.
The character development of Alex is class apart. The beginning makes you despise him to the hilt but as the film gears up, we start contemplating his outrageous behaviour which changes after the severe therapeutic treatment and makes him prone to aversions.
For a moment, during this ongoing treatment , one wonders whether he is putting up an act to get himself freed or is it real refinement of his soul. One pities the maniac while McDowell and Kubrick pull the antihero role a notch higher than what we expect
A movie way too futuristic and beyond normal mindsets, requires a great amount of tolerance and open minded ness to understand the crux of the movie which perhaps tells us
‘No man chooses evil because it is evil; he only mistakes it for happiness, the good he seeks.’
And that evil and good dwell together equally. It’s just that The prominent one rules!!
Rightly proclaimed a cult classic
