Yesterday, we saw the new film Midway. My friend, and the unsung hero of the most significant Naval battle of WWII in the Pacific, Dick Best, is finally featured in the most exciting and historically accurate drama of Naval warfare in the Pacific. The world as we know it would have been very very different if we didn't have Navy Lieutenant Dick Best at the Battle of Midway. He was instrumental in sinking two of three Japanese aircraft carriers at Midway. The naval cypher intelligence work accomplished by Commander Joe Rochefort and the confidence and trust thrust upon Admiral Nimitz, gave the INFERIOR American forces a surprise assault upon extremely superior Japanese Naval Forces. Japan's rapid expansion across the Pacific was stopped and never again expanded. America now had the beginnings of a 3 1/2 year victory in the making. The new film Midway is the most historically accurate film that finally recognizes my unsung hero of the Battle of Midway, Lt. Dick Best. I had the good fortune to become his friend, conduct his video oral history interview. Upon his death he left me his personal library and his personal memorabilia. I am honored. I recommend this film to you without reservation.if you want to see a historically accurate, exciting, fast paced film and learn about the unsung heroes of the Battle of Midway, this the film for you. Take your kids, friends and veterans. It will leave you proud to be an American
