The film beautifully and in a heartbreaking/traumatising way conveys a strong anti-war message, it ends on an unusually heartbreaking note unlike many other war films. The grounded animation, highly impactful voice acting and great direction makes it a hard hitting film that conveys its intended message very well. The film is instantly made very impactful with the dark opening scene leading to the films’ main plot. The film efficiently establishes characters in the first half of the film which makes anything happening to them feel much more personal to the viewer ultimately elevating the impact. The film in no way tries to alleviate any pain and suffering caused to the characters, this makes it much more authentic. This film is definitely worth a watch and it will leave you in deep thought. “A beautiful movie that I would never watch again” is probably the best way to summarise the movie.
