Going into this movie, I had no idea how it would pan out and no, it did not disappoint me at all. For me it had been quite a while since a good Pixar movie hit me in the gut, at least not since Wall-E or Up kind of movies.
This movie surprised me so much, made me laugh, cry and importantly made me feel more grateful than regretful of life in general.
Coming to the story line, from animation to characters arcs, of not only our beloved protagonist, but even did itself good by giving some depth to the minor characters along the journey too. Something as small as given up or forgotten dreams of the barber, whom joe and 22 met, to joe's mother concerns about joe chasing his pointless dreams.
Moments like when 22 finding her spark and not realizing it or joe embracing death, doesn't come across as a cliché from the director. The point or the meaning behind so many unanswered questions that one asks itself throughout life are there but portrayed in such a beautiful way that it is up to the viewer's interpretation how they want it to be their reality.
It's a shame that animation movie are still considered to be a genre just to feed children, when it has such a great potential to be enjoyed by both adults and kids.
