A hard to watch movie as a family struggles to survive a history of mental illness, along with physical and drug abuse. Despite this the love of a grandmother and big sister, triumph to change the course of this family's future by enabling the youngest child to grow up with different values and to leave the area to better himself and hopefully change the family dynamics. Based on a true story, the script at the end of the movie indicates that this has happened.

Excellent Canadian movie filmed on the beautiful East Coast with insight into how mental illness can affect a family and the strength and courage it takes to rise above the mental and physical destruction it takes for those affected to live a life with meaning and purpose. I would highly recommend this movie.
