I lived in Cleveland during this period and I know the real D.J. the movie is based on. Johnny Holiday is his name and he was probably the most popular D.J. in Cleveland à t the time. His show was on WHK COLOR RADIO A.M. 1420 on the A.M. dial. And I don't think I ever missed his show.
