Feels very embellished. A bit of a great “story” rather than a memoir. Well written and entertaining yet not plausible at times. It’s surprising to me that I have not found other reviews stating the same. Is celebrity all it takes to sell a book and a tale? Why are some many mesmerized? This book is Overrated and lacking truth as well as honest depth or transparency. Actions and feelings don’t line up, multiple unlikely events lack witness of any kind. If this was a tall tale I would give it five stars as a memoir I give it one. I would however look forward to part two where Mathew untwines facts from exaggeration and digs deeper to reveal genuine alignment. Perhaps his “just fine” approach is nothing but the result of trauma and years of abuse that have forced him to create a false reality to hold on to. Whatever it is, I’m not convinced.
