I actually was really looking forward to playing Marvel's Avengers and in my first play through on the day i got it made some serious headway. I enjoyed tearing through AIM robots as the hulk and learning about Kamala's story but it was about the 2/3 point when I was nearing the endgame (no pun intended) that I realized just how lazy the game was. For every genuinely enjoyable moment there were a boatload of stay in the circle games or infinite AIM robots. The bosses were also disappointing there are literally only 3 proper ones (Taskmaster, Abomination and Modok) the rest are just massive tanky AIM robots which aren't difficult from a variation of attacks but just are just bullet sponges. I personally love challenge being a souls veteran so I chose to play through on hard difficulty to begin with (and then brutal if I did a second play through) but the level design became so mind-numbingly repetitive and easy. Even the main Avengers became boring to play as as you would just spam the same buttons over and over. When a game feels more like a chore to play then fun then it's a definite bad sign. I finished the campaign and decided to give online a go to see if it was any better...it definitely wasn't. The praise I can give to the main game is that the character moments were actually decent but in the online that's gone. It's somehow even more boring running through room after room with no fun in sight. You can get special armor and equipment but they all either don't change your character's looks or just look like the devs decided to hand their kids a sheet of paper and design them. All of the good skins are of course locked behind paid walls, which you can grind to earn but it would take way too long. Playing with a friend is the only fun thing about online but nobody plays the game anymore so matchmaking takes like 5 minutes per match. Also there comes a point when even running around the exact same room with exact same enemies with a friend becomes dead. At launch people hoped that they would improve the online but literally nothing has come, other than a few promised hero's who will probably get boring after a few hours of playtime with them. If you want to play a good superhero game play Spider-man PS4 or play the Batman Arkham games they're much more fun and didn't make me feel like I was loosing brain cells as I played them. For your own sake save your money.

If I had to smash a game, it would most certainly be this game.
