Pretty Hard... to watch.
Here's the problem with the woke folks in the crowd...you THINK you're the majority but you're really not. This show comes off as pretentious, "holier than thou" and leaves a sour taste in anyone's mouth who is just eager to watch good TV. It misses the mark on so many fronts. The one actor who actually delivers is (surprise) Adrienne C. Moore; an American. Canadian television relies too much on its values and not enough on satisfying the audience.
Was it silly funny? Was it kind of serious? Did the writers know where they wanted to go with this? This is a show that doesn't seem to have any idea what it is. It changes tones constantly, veering from annoying comedy to lame attempts at serious drama. The result is a mess.
I adore Meredith MacNeill in Baroness Von Sketch but she is badly miscast here. Her neurotic shtick is way over the top and becomes annoying in this context. The crime stories and characters are pretty lame and light weight and draw from endless cop show cliches.
Almost stopped watching after episode one but was curious to see if the ship righted itself. Episode two is probably worse. But it did become somewhat fun in a 'so bad it's good' way.
And to the other "reviewers" who are complaining about the bad reviews: half the reviews here (all absurdly positive) are from people who have never reviewed anything except this show. Hmm.
