Why do the producers of the show allow the bad treatment of the sled dogs? It’s freezing outside and these dog owners feed their dogs frozen fish with water or brown liquid. Raw fish is dangerous . The dogs can get parasites from raw fish. If the dog owners can’t afford to feed these working dogs a good quality dog food they shouldn’t have them. It breaks my heart to see these sled dogs so thin you can see their ribs. One particular guy who has sled dogs has such timid dogs. When he approaches them they drop their heads and put their tails between their legs. No doubt they fear their owner, I wonder why? If the producers do not want to address this issue than please don’t record the dogs. One more thing, on Port Protection, please take Oliver’s girlfriend off the show. She needs some mental help. Her attitude stinks. She gets a attitude when she misses shooting a bear…come on, get real, you shouldn’t be hunting down a bear and trying to kill it just for practice..Shame on the producers and her. I have been watching these show for years, I couldn’t go on ignoring the abuse on the dogs. As far as Oliver’s girlfriend, she doesn’t belong on the show. Bad attitude, poor little missy missed a shot when trying to kill a bear. Yes, throw your gun in the lake as you mentioned.

I enjoy watching this show. I love watching the families and kids enjoying the outdoors. But Because I am a animal lover its hard to watch when dogs are used as sled dogs and the owners run them for miles without water or food breaks. Some toss the dogs a small piece of frozen fish. They leave the dogs attached to the sled without putting down hay or something to give them some relief from the snow. I’ve seen the dogs tied up laying on top of each other shaking from the cold while their owners were off fishing. The dogs were left attached to the sled the entire time they were fishing. I was very disappointed. I also watched a guy trap a link. The link was alive still in the trap and trying to get free. This guy stood watching the link and talking to the camera person saying he doesn’t enjoy having to kill animals but that’s a way of life for them. I understand, hunting is a necessity in order to survive out there but why not shoot the link and get it out of its misery, but no, instead he find a stick and strangles the link to death while causally continuing to talk to camera person again saying he doesn’t enjoy killing animals all the while slowing strangling the link. I get it, people have to hunt to eat, that’s fine but don’t be like this idiot, put the animal out of his misery.
