Compared to Bohemian Rhapsody this comes off a poor second , the main reason is the ridiculous decision not use EltonJohns original music ,this in itself stops the audience from singing along and enjoying it even more as you were able to do with the Queen movie .
the other problem with it is that None of the performances are particularly memorable and in certain cases underwhelming. Unlike Freddie Mercury who was taken from us too young there is no real story here apart from a super rich popstar who feels sorry for himself which is really all it amounts to. If ever singer who over indulged to the point of near death warranted a movie then there would be 100’s of them.
Don’t get me wrong , I love Elton John and his music but I didn’t get that with this film , just a musical based on his songs that really didn’t do them justice.
