If you’re a rugby league fan, you should definitely purchase this, as it’s really your only option, but just for the record, it’s the worst game you will ever play. Recently my career mode reached a point in the second season that forces the game to crash everytime I try to play the next game, so I’ve had to start a new career. I’ve played daily for the last 12 months, but the large majority of that time has been creating players, teams, jerseys and logos - which definitely adds to the experience. When it comes to the gameplay, something unnatural or strange will happen almost every tackle, be it offloads that go straight up in the air, knock on decisions when you pass the ball, players failing to throw a pass, I could go on all day. The creation tools initially had me overlooking the games vast flaws, but once I realised most of the logos don’t show up when you actually play a game, even that’s became a chore. When organising a teams lineup, it resets everytime you add someone to the squad, and the player information available is subpar once you get into a match. There are so many things wrong with the gameplay I don’t imagine how I could list them all, but in the era of large budget EA sports titles I can see how we’ve became used to games actually just working and I don’t want to be too harsh on something that I spend so much time on. If you want to relive your childhood, or you’re a rugby league fan in general, do purchase this game - but my goodness prepare to be frustrated constantly in every single match by the gameplay.
