I've watched all the series from the bro's Charlie and Euan but compared to the previous two this one felt more than a little contrived. The post-production script was poor, unrealistic ( two public schoolboys on summer holidays came to mind), and a wasted opportunity to educate the audience about some of the grittier aspects of the region, and though the photography and scenery were spectacular this series was less about two mates on their bikes trekking through Latin America, and more about the army of fixers ensuring a valuable movie star didn't get hurt, kidnapped stranded in a border station and had a soft bed to sleep in.
Working the whole eco-warrior narrative into the adventure was refreshing, that was until spending miles driving across much of Mexico in a diesel bus as a security precaution. Surely plenty of bikers do this journey without getting shot or kidnapped?
Hats off to Harley Davidson for putting themselves out there with their electric bikes - sadly this series has appeared to do little to bolster sales. On the whole, this series didn't quite know what it wanted to be - a faux drama on two wheels traveling through a continent or a true ecological adventure. Enjoyable but left me wanting.
