Rom coms don’t have to be perfect to be appreciated. Just like in real life romance, the beauty is in the imperfections. Yes. Some of the writing is contrived, but the actors are adorable & the storyline is cute. Makes me wish I had moved to NYC after college. I can’t believe I never saw this movie before. Nice little surprise. I’m 53 and will never tire of rom coms. At least I hope not. 🥰

I love the cast & the initial premise of women in my age group going through life’s obstacles. But some of the characters seem unbelievable by themselves & I question their codependency at that age. Perhaps the intent here is just to present an alternate universe. I can accept that. I’ll keep watching out of curiosity. As I continue watching, I realize what I DO LOVE about this show: French, & a chef writing a cookbook / autobiography. I’ve been working on my autobiographical cookbook since I got COVID last year. And I’ve been wanting to revisit my HS French. So I believe this show is just what I need right now. I feel I’m also “On the Verge,” in the best way possible. I finished the entire season & I can say whole heartedly that it gets much better as the episodes progress. Some unexpected plot twists. Now I cannot wait for season 2. Bon Travail

Did a bunch of people write good reviews hoping that Kristen Wiig herself would read it & contact them to be in her next movie? Because otherwise… are you kidding me with this?! I mean seriously, I LOVE quirk!! But this was not it. As one reviewer wrote, “after the Asian kid delivered the newspapers,” (a scene I actually LOVED because I too love to belt out Barbara Streisand songs) it was all downhill from there. It seemed like they were trying to get an Austin Powers vibe going, but none of it worked. There were too many odd stories going on that barely seemed pertinent to the overall plot. A Quentin Tarantino film this is NOT. I do always appreciate, however, how Kristen Wiig has like zero marionette lines. Anywho… I really do not like wasting energy on negativity. And I did say some nice things here. But I simply could not NOT put out my own personal warning of “DO NOT RENT THIS MOVIE!” I got it for $0.99. That should’ve been an obvious clue. And I was just reminding a friend how she shouldn’t waste time hanging out with friends if she hasn’t yet fit in her daily activity. Thankfully I did not skip my exercise to watch this. 💪🥰

I love this movie. I found it to be quirky & yet relatable because I think we all have some characters like these in our lives & in ourselves. Of course it really helps that Sean played Suzanne because he is just adorable in everything. I agree with another reviewer that the casting was on point. A wonderful story unfolded around what initially seemed like a simple character. But in the end, Suzanne surprised me. I’m already looking forward to sequels, maybe even a prequel. I think I’m going to watch it again. 🥰
