Be wary of any review giving anything 5/5 stars, it's likely the reviewer has no idea how to review things. 5 stars should be for the best game possible, and that isn't this game. Let's get the elephant out of the room. The game is not intended to be a "fair fight" unlike many of it's predecessors (notably, OTHER fighting game series)
I have played every MK game, and every MK game has one thing in common: They are the spam games, through and through. Read through the final boss encounter tips in story mode. It's clear that he can't be beaten without underhanded tactics. If a game was designed well, the skills learned through the rest of the game should be enough to carry you through the fight without too much effort. Instead, all of the straight forward methods for defeating Shake Kahn are methods of exploiting the games rules. Except one, "Use Raiden".
Sorry, but that's not 5 star material. Be aware, this isn't my determination, but in fact that of multiple wiki sources. This game should get somewhere from 2 to 4 stars, depending on the person. Again, discount 5 star reviews completely. They are not valid or well reviewed.
I won't do a full steam review here, but just be aware that the game is fun and frustrating, just like an MK game should be. More stars would be given if they didn't have to rely on such weak and tired methods to extend gameplay.
Worth about $10 today. It's a good game to jump in with, but if you've watched GamerThumbs videos on YouTube, you can skip it.
