Wasn't sure whether to give it a 4 or a 5.
The album gets better with each listen so I guess it will be 5 ultimately . I'm pretty sure they've updated some of the tracks from the initial release and now it feels a lot more finished and polished.
With all great songs and albums, the tunes really grow on you. Really into Paper work at the moment.
I love the collaboration with Ty Dollar sign. His voice and melodies add a beautiful contrast to Ye's raps. Although Ye sings himself a fair bit on this album.
Some of the later tracks feel as though they could do with a bit more production. I know JPEG mafia was involved with producing a couple of tracks. I'm a JPEGMAFIA fan in general, but not sure about the 'Beg Forgiveness' track. I personally loved the early release with the clean vocal. It has a certain 'Penny Lane' melody to it and I think that could have been built on as the basis of a great tune, but they put a tonne of effects on the vocal and switched it up into what it is now. It also sounds like they're using some early recording of Chris Browns vocals? Who knows. That was the one track that I heard off the bootlegs that I thought had the most potential. Maybe Ye will give me a call next time he's looking for a producer? I've been a huge fan since College Dropout. And I think this album is up there with his first 2.. It's experimental and full of long term listens. Thats not something i can say about some of his stuff after Late Registration.
