Captivating and at times surreal I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to get into it because of that slightly cartoon looking element . I thought I might feel like I’m watching an a-ha film clip ! But I actually really got into the different painting styles the movement in colour. My only criticism would be the shots where the camera is moving a lot were a little bit annoying -in that they were jumpy and they were really unnecessary.

I've Only watched three episodes -but that's three hours of which two and a half is basically over stylised fodder. Is it funny? Kristen Wig is usually funny and there are moments, but it's more of a chuckle than a LoL. Also it's frustrating to watch someone trying so hard to be a rejected social climber over and over... and over.... The Favourite was funny because it was so dry and pompous and set within it's time, this just sits on the fence and seems like pointless meanness most of the time. And although it's an amazing cast it's a bit like chasing your tail, a little bit of an edit down would have gone a long way. Overall disappointing probably won't bother with the next three episodes.

I know this director has a pretty good backlog but I was totally underwhelmed by this film, characters were undeveloped, the pace was off and it lacked any direction- i kept thinking 'where is this going? & whats the point! '. I realized the subject matter is prone to melodrama (its a very famous case) but this only makes it more disappointing that its been handled in this sluggish, flat and emotionally removed way when the story in its heyday had such resonance. There's one interesting scene where she says flatly that she is naïve but then its not explored with any depth. Its classic Netflix in that it looks pretty ,goes around in a lost fashion and is basically badly written from the start. Lastly the genre bending was unsuccessful - I didn't notice the comedy side to it at all! (shrug)

Its a great film for Marilyn it shows her range outside of comedy and I think the accent is pretty good -but all southern accents sound the same to me. (shrug) The cowboy(Don Murry) is pretty unbelievable by todays standards but in the context of time it was made I guess you could live on a ranch and get to that age and still have the mind of a child? - I did find his yelling a bit OTT - had to down the volume! . Oh and its NOT a musical by the way (thank god!) its only got one song in it really and that scene is pivotal to the character (Cherry) to show us shes really not super talented as a singer but more that shes there to entertain men in the bar. Thers some funny bits too -like the rodeo scene- LOL. Over all I liked this film but I like MM so perhaps thats where you need to be to really enjoy it .

hmmm I just watched ep1, I really tried but the slow pace, stilted dialogue and dull characters got to me (cringe). I dont know if its bad direction or bad writing or just bad acting by the supporting cast, but its like they went with the first take on every scene. Jamie is ok but the rest is a cliché waste of time -Australians come across and barely able to string a sentence together! I was hoping for something decent or at least well produced but there's been no effort made to make this original, convincing or interesting. (possibly a case of to many cooks??) & the genre, is it a thriller or a black comedy ?? .Anyway its a shame it really is -oh on a positive note the cinematography/lighting and camera work is nice -looks good, but no cigar
