Cattails is rough on a lot of aspect, for some reason you can't use d-pad and the menu feels like it wasn't optimized for switch, the graphics are cute and pixelated but the environment are very empty and bland on some places. The game can be compared to the harvest moon or stardew valley but with cats which means the game is open for you to play with whether you want to complete the 'main quest' or just having fun hunting, fishing, mining, building relationship and fight for your colony. There are stats that you can upgrade by accumulating xp that you can earn either by hunting, foraging or battling other cats from other colonies. The stat that you can upgrade are swimming, hunting, foraging, etc which can make the gameplay easier. The hunting mechanic which is your main thing to do because you need it to eat is very clunky, but you get used to it. There's also seasonal events which you can participate in which is weirdly cute, and even though the characters are cats you can feel their distinct personality by their emotions and dialogue.
Overall the game is an enjoyable experience for the price it's asking, it's kinda addicting too, there's a lot of potential for it to become a masterpiece because so far the thing that hindered my enjoyment is the controls and the map which feels empty and lonely
