Richard Kelley is a hack who made one good movie in his career. "Southland Tales" is filled with convoluted dialogue, too many characters, a unsatisfying ending and an embarrassing performance from Dwayne Johnson. The film has themes but doesn't do anything interesting with them. I was shocked to see this film listed on IMDb as a comedy because its not funny at all. Avoid this overly long mess with a ten foot poll.
