I came across Jane The Virgin during the lockdown and started watching it and slowly it transcended into a very special place in my life. I am an Indian woman who grew up yearning for a family. I was raised by my mother but my childhood was scarred with many struggles and abuses. However, watching the special bond Jane shared with her mother and Abuela made me yearn for mine. The twists and turns in the show are gripping but what tops is probably the amount of joy it has brought to me. I loved the representation of Latinos in the series. The fight for immigration was so beautifully and yet so realistically portrayed. The love underneath all the heartbreaks triumphs everything. The development of each character is just wonderful. Thank you to the writers for introducing me to the world of telenovelas. And the actors made it possible to make me love this show so much. I laughed with the show, I cried, I got my heart broken when Michael died and when he came back it seemed so surreal. I guess he had to come back for Jane to realise that Rafael is the one for her and for us audience to realise that he was never the second choice. At the end when Jane and Rafael could not read their vows aloud, we felt their love too. And who knew Mateo would be the narrator! The storytelling made it so beautiful. Thank you for making me believe in the happily ever after, and that we are the storytellers of our own lives.
