Compared to the other Scooby Doo games out there, this is definitely the most fleshed out, interesting, and fun one I have seen in a long time. Scooby controls very accurately and fluidly, especially for a PS2 game. The power-ups/inventions Scooby collects throughout the game open up so many different areas from around the map, so replayability is encouraged. Not only this, but the way you "kill" enemies using these power-ups is very satisfying paired with the responsive controls of Scooby. One issue I have run into while replaying this game for the 3rd time is depth of field. Many times while crossing gaps, the colors of the background blend so well with the foreground platforms, that I find myself missing so many of my shots. Usually, there's a shadow underneath you that dictates where you will land, but sometimes it's just not there, so the player is left to blindly guess where they are going. These parts are few and far between, though. The game doesn't look bad at all, and the difficulty is not too easy and not too hard at most parts. Scooby Snacks are your main collectable, like most SD games. This one has an interesting mechanic called "Snack Gates" that halt your progress until you have collected enough Scooby Snacks to pass through. If Scooby Snacks were used for anything else, I might actually like collecting them, but it just seems like their only purpose is to pad out game time. While collecting Scooby Snacks was a disappointment, there's another type of collectable called "Monster Tokens", which are scattered all throughout the game in hidden areas. Most of these need a power-up to get, but many have simply been puzzle based, which I love. Not only this, but if you find a monster token, you can view the 3D render of that monster in the Monster Gallery. This, for me, makes collecting all of them worthwhile and fun. In terms of the story, it's pretty generic, but that's to be expected from a Scooby Doo game. Backtracking is also encouraged with the use of Warp Gates, which let you teleport back to places you have been to explore new areas with new power-ups. Any fan of Scooby Doo would have a blast with this game, and even people who aren't still could have a fun time. 8/10 Y'all better get it
