Being a big fan of the Herbie Franchise and Volkswagen Beetles themself I figured I would give this movie a try. I was super disappointed and had to stop watching the movie because it was just awful. Don’t get me wrong Lindsay Lohan is great, especially back when the movie was made, but it’s just the whole plot and storyline that I didn’t enjoy. This movie is almost insulting to anyone who owns or loves VW’s, half the movie is Lindsay’s character and the other characters bashing poor Herbie, calling it “the ugliest car ever,” among other things. The one scene that really made me start questioning this movie was the junkyard scene when Maggie (Lindsay) is picking out a car and just completely ignores the classic, not to mention, beautiful VW beetle sitting in front of her, until the last second. I know she’s supposed to be an aspiring race car driver and an old Volkswagen may not be the first choice car for that however, this movie just wasn’t it, in my opinion.
