Gosh so much to say on this episode. Let’s start with the good. Love Max though even for a young doc is too frenetic ( I worked in a teaching hospital for 38 years). Love his passion and compassion and generally I can forgive things because the characters are complex and the story of what is wrong is hospitals is good to tell. What I cannot get past the episode tonight is a HEART surgeon doing esophageal repair, which is GI or General surgery. Specialists are seen as consultants in an ER not doing the basically admitting workup! !
The poor patient then conveniently has a horrible rip in their heart and the head of CV surgery basically lets his assist take over. The whole OR does nothing. Blood and drugs would have been given, the anestiologist would have been frantically trying to save the patient. The lead surgeon would have taken over. He would be screaming for equipment, cell savers, bypass instead he stood and let a cop die. So please if you want to portray medicine do get some advice. Also Oncologists do not cover cases in ER. I know cast is limited but really? It is too hard to suspend belief.
Love the characters but this one was just bad...
