This book is more than just the words and the fictional quotes, it's the story and the romanticism of friendship, life and death. It took me to a whole other level of appreciating death even being taught how to cope with grief from a religious perspective. I've always loved John Green's writings but this one has scarred me once again, after The Fault in Our Stars. I read this as a young teenager but only because I was given the privilege to live in a normal healthy life, not ever experienced loss of a family member or a friend. After knowing the book was being made into a series, and Alaska being played by Kristine Froseth, I had to re-read it again while I was also following the show. The characters were well played and as much I loved the show, the book just captures everything for me in the present especially with this pandemic. Reading this book again as I transition into adulthood and experiencing recent deaths of loved ones has definitely given me introspection of how I deal with it at this age. Ahhh thank you again, John Green!
