I am 12 year old Christian, but I suffer from frequent stress and anxiety. Sometimes I have felt suicidal by the slightest margin.
I usually find peace in fascinating books, but this one is the first time that I find myself emotional.
Yes, I have not finished the book. Yes, I don't know about these stupid "plots". No, I have already freaking discovered something bad in this famed book.
On pages 24-26 Ernest Cline reminds me about things that I am most stressed about: Christianity doubt and climate change.
I know this is mentioned to warn people about these dangers, but I try to focus my mind on the solutions. And its hard, with me suffering from anxiety and frequent stress.
It mentions for climate change that animals are dying out and life is declining at a lightning fast rate. Sea levels are rising fast and pole + mountain ice has been melting. Nations are at war against one another over little but precious resources.
For Christianity, it broke my heart on what Ernest Cline writes. Yes, I am not a teen. Yes, this book is supposed to be dystonia. Yes, I am supposed to tolerate the emotions that it gives me. NO, I CANNOT SCREAMING HANDLE IT!!!!
It explains that there is no afterlife after you die, and that when you die, you basically become nothing, going against our beliefs; you are reincarnated for eternal life. Also, it explains that God was just some made up thing that never exists and is just a stupid fairy tale. To me, I've experienced His presence spiritually a few times in my life. Not face to face, but in spiritual presence.
This book... MADE ME CRY FOR 20 MINUTES STRAIGHT!!!!
Burn in hell, stupid Ernest Cline and Ready Player One.
Not going to watch movie or go read a sequel.
Rather stick with biographies.
Stupid book. Don't read if you have anxiety and stress problems about climate change like Greta Thunberg.
