Overall, if you watched it on it's own sure it might actually be good. But me as someone who had read the book feels otherwise.
I know it can be pretty difficult to perfectly match a book to it's film, it's almost impossible.
But I feel like this film left out SO MANY important themes in the book. I cried so many times while reading the book, I felt a strong connection to Violet and Finch.
*Spoilers*
Finch's death was built up on and the part that struck to me the most was when Violet finished their wandering and finding the pieces Finch left.
Sure there were scenes there that fulfilled that but I also felt it wasn't shown enough how their relationship grew and how them as individuals grew as well.
I find the part where Violet and Finch were in the bookstore at night reading all the places we go, the part where Finch passes the rock to Violet, when Finch went to find a ton of violets for Violet, where we discover how tough Finch's life was with his father, Violet's history with Eleanor.
I just felt there were so many missing pieces that would've captured me in completely.
I feel also that maybe this movie would've been better as a series?
*No spoilers*
I just think the book made more sense and captured me in more than the film did
