I am currently taking Ethnomusicology at Dallas Baptist University and we were assigned this book to read for class. I'll admit that I thought it was just going to be a thick book filled with concepts I already knew everything about. However, after so many chapters, this textbook has now become one of, if not, the most fulfilling books I have ever read. Maybe because I have a joy for International Students already is what allowed this to leave such a good impression? Either way, this book is filled with material that is ESSENTIAL for any Christian that comes across other cultures (spoiler alert: that should be every Christian via the Great Commission). From debunking the "ideal" approach of establishing westernized worship services in other countries to informing us that not every culture sees Minor Keys as "sad" keys, the text is beyond enlightening. The examples, stories and testimonies in this book are living instructions of how we need to be connecting with other peoples through an efficient and humble matter.
