Seeing Kapil on Netflix was something that is required for the Indian comedy scene. But we should not compare it to the seasoned international comedy scene which fetches far more audience, owing to longer time period and more free content creation in the west, as compared to the Indian scene.
But, we can definitely compare it to Kapil's own show. Seemed like it was inevitable to get him out of his banter about his Twitter debacle some years back, that happened to be dark days for this career. His posture, his comfort level and his style didn't seem to be what it's supposed to be in his shows. As a matter of fact both formats require different temperaments and need different set of comedy and the Netflix format requires that the Indian comedy fans evolve and so do the comics.
He made a whole show to put to rest the rumors and conundrums about his Twitter debacle. But he could not come out of it. Seems his writers need more experience when it comes to live shows such as this. Either he can do a prime time show format or he can be a full time stand up comic. Bot are largely mutually exclusive. Very few can pull off a large audience in both formats.
