Sadly think this version of a really great book would not have made it to our screens if not written and directed by a serious luvvie. The main casting is strange with two rather superannuated "17 year-olds" and most of the cast are, I'm sorry to say, unmemorable . Uncle Matthew is a bright, (if rather un-PC) exception to this generally dull version of what is such a witty and effervescent book (together with the others in the trilogy) although Andrew Scott is entertaining but slightly weird. Can't bring myself to watch the other episodes. To paraphrase Uncle Matthew, this interpretation is unutterably bloody. Really disappointed.
