Mixed feeling about this book. It was really slow going for about the first half. I persevered as it was bought for me by someone who really enjoyed it...I figured it was one of those books you have to finish to realise how good it was. Plus I hate not finishing books! It definitely got better in the second half. It started to make a bit more sense and as someone with relations in Northern Ireland I could see some of my childhood visits in the 80s being revisited with the language she uses. Anna has a really clever style of writing, it takes some getting used to but you have to admire it. This book wouldn't be for everyone, and I can see why some love it and others are bored by it.
