Ignore the cranky space-fan and that’s-not-plausible reviews. TV shows (and movies) “ask” us to suspend disbelief in pretty much every scene on any show. Moving on.
The writing from a dramatic perspective is quite lovely and often poignant. Adding in the personal elements helps offset the drag of what would be a boring story (at least from an entertainment perspective). Humanity doesn’t stop in space. It becomes amplified.
The cast is strong, and they hold their own alongside an academy award winner. You grow to care about every character.
Is it perfect? No. But, I’m so glad I watched it. I’d say, for Netflix, it’s some of the highest caliber of writing and acting I’ve seen.
Watch it, and form your own opinions.
