Some of the lead actors are not that good. I can FEEL them acting. Or should I say, overacting. Cynthia Nixon and Christine Baranski are exceptions - they both are great. The storytelling is interesting, and the costumes are beautiful. If you like period shows, this is a decent watch.

I know others liked this movie, but I thought it was terrible. I disliked Tom Hanks’ character: a bumbling fool who comes off as a culturally ignorant American. It’s annoying. He drinks too much, oversleeps every day, and is constantly falling down. I’m sure there’s a deeper moral meaning to this film, but it didn’t leave me interested enough to figure it out. This is a movie to watch if you want to fall asleep.

Starts out realllly boring. Beckett and his gf have zero chemistry. Gets slightly more interesting after the car accident, but it’s not helped by the dialogue and the horrible, bland acting of Beckett. He has no chemistry with anyone in this film. It literally feels like he’s just going through the motions of “acting.” His poor communication shows when he can’t even be bothered to tell his gf’s dad she’s dead (which is weird) or to speak coherently when he’s talking to the embassy on the phone. Worse yet, he is a ridiculously poor judge of character. You’ll see why if you watch it. He sort of comes alive in the last 25 minutes of the film, but it’s the kind of forgettable movie that you won’t even remember the title of within a day of watching it.

I mean, I think that Bruce Willis has hit a new low in movie making. Dude has to earn a paycheck, but this is embarrassing. The dialogue was written by a grade school child, and I can’t count the number of times there was a lack of gun safety. I mean, seriously - stop pointing your weapon in the direction of people you aren’t shooting!!! Idk how much it would have cost for someone with weapon/military experience to be on set, but I’m sure someone would have done it for a free trip to craft services. I watch a lot of movies, and when it comes to sci-fi, I have a pretty tolerant threshold for the ridiculous….but this was just….a new low.

Another preview summed it up: my only “issue” in this is Nicole Kidman. Her wooden acting, her constant “stunned” face, always being “scared” or surprised when her son enters the room (that gets old). Her character is also weird. A renowned psychologist with zero awareness that her husband is a sociopath? And her father carried on multiple affairs? I mean, does she live in a fantasyland? Is she hopped up on drugs? She’s so wooden, I guess that’s a partial explanation as to why her husband kept cheating. It was a decent series, but not really original in any way.

I MAY have thought the movie slightly better, had I not been such an ardent fan of the books. This movie does it absolutely no justice. It cuts so many corners, and changes so many things, it diminishes how wonderful and enthralling the books are. The main character (Tom Ward) is too old, he’s supposed to be a child. And while I like Jeff Bridges, I’m not a fan of his interpretation of Master Gregory. Likewise, all the witches in the books are hideous and ugly, and they smell like blood....not beautiful like they are in the movie. It takes something away from the plot, IMO. Just a huge disappointment.

Literally watched 15 min and the lead character was so unlikeable, I had to turn it off.
