Spearhead the fight to assist furloughed federal employees. You may use this original material to inform and educate the viewing public. When you see a wrong, right it! This tone-deaf administration has created its own crisis by forcing the government shutdown through posturing and denial of basic rational adult behavior, needlessly risking the overall security, reputation, support, and confidence of our populace and allies. Requiring the furloughed federal employees to report for work without pay and under the threat of job loss for resisting is an act of moral violence. In honor of the themes offered by Dr. King and others, I ask each person reading this to act and support the moral high ground. Engage charities, non- profits, NGOs, businesses, needed services and similar to offer their contributions to furloughed federal employees. Upon presentation of the employee's federal ID and their zero amount federal pay stub, the entity could self-identify and act. Markets and stores could offer their outdated or surplus food, clothes, supplies, and other useful items. Farms and food growers, providers, and distributors could send their "not market ready" items to a local distribution organization. Restaurants could provide excess prepared stuffs. Medical and health providers could treat and assist with their services. Transportation systems and services could offer rides to/from the affected personnel workplaces. Churches, synagogues, mosques and other systems and places of worship could provide and coordinate to connect the dots. Basic utilities could extend terms using their assistance plans for the needy. Banks and other financial entities could establish special emergency rules to limit the impact of late or missed payments. Be recognized as part of a solution and not part of a problem. Teach an enduring lesson to those who deny there is an issue. The list of positive ways to help is nearly endless. The road is short and the journey is clear. The time is now. ACT!
