I usually love long one-shots, especially when they are taken at the right time.
To me, Roma exaggerated so much with these shots that I started to feel like it was trying too hard. I was aware the entire time that the director is being artistic and poetic, which made it far less artistic and poetic to me.
My favorite part was the production design which seemed to depict the period perfectly in all its different settings. Cinematography was wonderful and made enduring these long shots much easier.
To prove myself right, I watched the movie a second time in 25 mins by pressing the +10 seconds button every time there was a long shot. I honestly got the same thing out of it in 25 mins as in 2 hours.
