I read this book as part of my English Literature GCSE course, and I loved it! It is probably one of my favourite books! William Golding is an absolute genious. Golding's message throughout the novel Lord of the Flies is that fear is the catalyst for violence and the destruction of civil societies. Fear is a major theme throughout the novel and is the reason behind the boys' loss of innocence. The boys fear what they do not understand, and Jack uses this fear to convince the majority of the boys to join his tribe. The boys fear the unknown "beast" and look towards Jack and his hunters for protection. When Simon comes out of the forest, they mistake him for the beast and brutally murder him out of fear. Jack underminds Ralph's leadership by calling him a coward because he was scared to go first up the mountain to look for the beast. When Jack gains control of the boys, he uses fear and intimidation to control them. Golding draws comparisons to totalitarian governments who use similar methods to control their populations. Golding suggests that fear is an inherent quality in humans and portrays the damage irrational fears can have on individuals and society.

Best film ever! So inspirational! I never say this about anything but it was perfect! I think this film should be watched by everyone, as it really makes you realise how hard life used to be and how ungratful people are nowadays. I am only 14 years old, but even girls my age notice how spoilt and ungratful people are, and this film really made me determind to tell people this and make them realise how lucky they are. I absolutely fell in love with this film! I have two siblings and this film made me realise how lucky I am to have them and that I should make the most of my time with them, as life is too short to waste time and hold grudges. Even though sometimes they do things that wind you up so much, and in the moment seem unforgivable, they are your siblings and deep down you will always love them.This film made me remember why I love my brother and sister so much, and I will always love them, even if we fight. This film is a must see for all, not only women. However, I went with my mum and 12 year old sister, and although they both enjoyed it, my sister found it hard to understand some parts so I would recommed it to anyone above the age of 13. I almost never manage to watch films this long without getting extremely bored, but somehow when the film ended I was surprised at how short it felt. It's 2h15mins long but time flew by as I enjoyed it so much! I will always remember this film. It's amazing!
