Everything about this movie is so wrong. As a film student and actor I know that there are so many diverse actors with special abilities/autism who would have loved this opportunity.
Having a special needs sister as well made this so hard for me to watch. Everything Maddie does is simply a stereotypical version of special needs people. You think she would be mature and smart enough to understand how offensive that is.
It was so brutal to watch but i wanted to educate myself on the film before reviewing. This was SUCH an amazing opportunity to portray the autism spectrum in a respectful way, but no.
Sia, SHAME ON YOU.
