the actors were amazing, and it told the painful, traumatizing stories of so many real women, but i hate how that was the only main motif of it all. black women dont exist only to feel pain , these women only existed as characters to feel pain, but i heard the book is better and banks more on poetry than exploiting the pain of many black women out there for shock value. i also notice a lot of reviews mention how this is a story that “many other women live through, not only black”. and while that’s true, this movie is to speak to black women who have seen these atrocities, and black women specifically. just something to think about
