If you don’t already have a fear of heights you just might have after viewing this nail biting thriller with its awe inspiring cinematography and jaw dropping moments. It’s a simple if rather far fetched plot but does have a terrific twist at the terrifying finale though some aspects are very hard to believe - noteably how the young heroines pose for selfies on a tiny platform 2,000 feet up above the desert, holding onto nothing then hanging by one hand from said platform whilst their buddy takes the shot… Some of the script is somewhat limited and the acting wooden, particularly that of the estranged dad, and the sudden resolution tests credibility. That said it’s certainly got some incredible thrills and spills - and definitely gave me some disturbed sleep afterwards.

I thought this one of the better films viewed so far this year - caught on Amazon Prime, and well worth the rental. Some reviews criticised its soppy plot and subplots and several scenes could have been developed but go no where, for example, the Syrian lad attacked and filmed by school boys and the killing of the main character’s canine companion. Hats off to Dave Turner, the lead, understated and multi layered. OK, no way as memorable as the harrowing I, Daniel Blake nor as unforgettable as Kes (seeing this at the cinema as a kid was an incredible experience) but decent all the same. Recommended
