First off...this seminal Sci-Fi "insect" movie actually has Leonard Nimoy in it!..He speaks one line, and is seen in the final scene, machine-gunning the mutant ants!..With this bit of info-that most reviewers have not noticed-we are treated to a great cast of actors, several of whom became well-known via Television appearances. James Whitmore, Fess Parker, James Arness, and a few others will be familiar to you. As for the movie, I saw it when I was nine years old, and was forever impressed!...A good, well-paced script, quite good special effects (the giant ants, in actuality, consisted with just one, very detailed rendition of an ant, mounted cleverly on a large forklift!..it was the only mobile monster used, but great editing made those ants seemingly attacking everywhere!)...this movie is simply the best of many other movies that followed this formula...I caught most of them too, having been forever impressed by THEM!

This is a book that tries hard to be a legitimate bio on Hendrix...but ultimately, it just is a rather superficial review of the Hendrix legend...to his credit, Jerry Hopkins did manage to interview Hendrix in mid-1969...but other than that, he just repeats already known (to Jimi fans) factoids, some of which have been proven wrong...Ex: Hendrix spent over $20,000 dollars on a trip to Morocco--nope, he took $2,100 bucks to cover the trip...Perhaps the most interesting-and true- fact of Hendrix, is the valid inclusion of a photo showing a tray of plaster casts of a few Rock stars of the day, casts ostensibly showing a few erect (sort of!) penises...Jimi seems to dominate the collection. Beyond that, this is mostly a rehash of info easily obtained by more comprehensive biographers...I have read many bios of Hendrix....the two best ones so far, are Jimi Hendrix, Electric Gypsy. and Room Full of Mirrors....Hopkins was known for a fairly good bio of Elvis, but this Hendrix effort overall is mediocre....not really worth it, IMO.
