This is a great movie and some of it is true to history, but most historians tend to leave out the part that the Vikings didn't only go around attacking everyone. They sailed around quite a bit of Europe, exploring and trading. I happen to be full blooded Norwegian and I consider the best thing about this movie was where it was filmed - Hardanger Fjord, one of the most beautiful places in Norway and where my paternal family came from. I also appreciated the efforts to make the environment and Viking ships historically correct. Voringfossen, the waterfall shown in many scenes, is mentioned in my family history. Hardanger Fjord is one of the most beautiful areas of Norway and it's worth watching the movie just to see the scenery, the Viking ships and hear its beautiful music.
