I watched this years ago and enjoyed it, then I just re-watched it again and enjoyed it even more. The history is excellent and it brought home to me, as a long time Civil War history student and researcher, just how far Stanton and the Government were prepared to go to punish and seek revenge on the South and Southerners. I'm not American, so have no agenda, but the determination to convict this woman - who was probably innocent - is frightening. The acting is superb and the attention to detail, especially the execution scene is excellent.

I have read the book several times and watched the series when it first came out. It is wonderfully close to the novel. The acting, with the exception of Ali MacGraw is excellent, in my opinion and the entire series part 1 and 2 is well worth watching many times over.

I just got around to watching this on Netflix. It was fun to see so many of the actors in their younger selves and Natalie Portman was wonderful. The movie is entertaining, but the history is terrible. People disappear and no one explains it, Mary Boleyn 's children are reversed in order, Anne's coterie of male friends do not exist. So don't look for an accurate portrayal here. Enjoy the scenery and the costuming.

I enjoyed this series very much. I wasn't sure about it after watching the first episode with what I thought was an over emphasis on the nudity etc, but the subsequent episodes stuck with the history and it was presented well. I was happy that the series did follow the DNA results to the conclusions and giving some peace to the extended members of the Imperial family.

The first episode was excellent and beautifully done. I had been unsure about how the brutality of this murder would be handled but if such a horror could be dealt with respectfully, the creators of this series have done it. The relationship between Mamie and her son, which is the focus of the first episode is beautifully drawn out. The beastly hatred and casual indifference with which this child was handled is something that must be seen to be believed. All done without sensationalism - which makes it more haunting - because it was real.
