I am a fan of Imtiaz movies, but didn't like this one. The reasons are:
Imtiaz is known for making reality based movies and depicting truth, but this was a mess. In the recent scenario, Zoey and Veer met in a club. Zoey wants to have fling with Veer, but Veer believes in a commited relationship. To many people his character may seem like a maniac because in this modern era he wants to be in a relation of trust and commitment. The reason is imperfect relation of his parents who don't share the same room even. Yes, his character is bizarre because in front of Zoey he fumbles most of the time and couldn't express well. However, he is a compassionate person. Zoey on the other side is straggling between love and career but this mess is created by her own. Zoey wants to start an event management company for which she is finding clients. After having one failed pitchdeck, she got another opportunity from a Dubai based company but she decided to drop it. Because Zoey wanted to keep the relationship intact and the reason was her seduction by Randeep Hooda's fairy tale in which till this point he didn't mention the flakes. When Kartik wanted her to meet his parents, Zoey's or Sara mom taunted her for choosing the wrong path as she did. While going to Kartik's house, she faced an emotional dilemma whether she is doing the right thing or not and she behaves like a maniac. Now the problems that I have with the plot:
This whole confusion could have been sorted if she had discussed with Kartik about the Dubai opportunity rather than puting the blame on him directly. Who says that you can't run a successful career being in a relationship?
I found Sara's character messy as she never behaved like an individual. She was grappling here and there.
In the old story of Randeep Hooda, the whole point of having a love story was baseless because it was a lust story. The beginning was amazing as you can reminicise the small city moments and the the lying conservatism but as it proceeds the story becomes convoluted and more like a lust story where Raghu or Randeep Hooda left house to be with Arushi Sharma but soon after he flings with one another binged series of women. He didn't want to commit anything to Arushi but he wanted to see her pic that's stashed in his wallet everyday ten minutes before he sleeps.
Basically Randeep Hooda played the character of a love guru who couldn't make his story of love. As we say, aadmi apni galti se seekh ke dusri ko salah deta h, so that portrayal of character is fine..but Sara doesn't have a mind of his own. When Randeep Hooda told that he slept with other girls she also broke with Kartik saying ki tum mujhe ab Tang Karne lage ho...
The crux - if you didn't like this movie, don't think that you are deprived of maturity that is needed to handle it. No, the world isn't that negative as the Sara's character used to depict. Relationships still work and commitment is still beautiful. Fidelity is the chain breaker of relationship and it is a choice that one makes. As Kartik's or Veer's character was sorted to an extent, that's why movie ended up on a positive note.
