Ok. This book was awful lol. I'm for sure giving it a big thumbs down. I'm the kind of person who on most occasions feels it necessary to finish a book I've started so I'm going to preface this by saying that's why I didn't simply put this book down after starting it.
If you plan on reading this book you might not want to read what I have to say about it because I do give certain details away.
From a few chapters in it was fairly clear that the author wrote this book as a cross over between twilight, Harry Potter and Legacies (all of which were mentioned within the first half hour, plus main vamp guy gives main girl the actual Twilight book to read as a "warning"?!). She writes in text speech, things such as "sexy af", "omg" and basically any word followed by "af" are regularly used through the entire book. She also is terrible at using things like he or him instead of a characters name. The main guys name is Jaxson and within a single paragraph his name is used repeatedly, I mean yeah the girls obsessed with him, but really is his name the only thing she knows how to say?!
Further more, she's at a boarding school in Alaska (which oh don't worry, you will be reminded of multiple times each chapter), but she only ever goes to class one freaking day?! Ummm right.
These kids are supposed to be in high school and the relationships seem a bit...advanced? Lol. Which would be ok if the writing style matched it I guess.
I think the thing that bothers me the most is that this high school girl lost her parents a month before coming to this school but she's handling it as though she's had years of therapy and even trying to tell other "kids" how to deal with their issues and she so quickly (like 2 days in) becomes enamored by Jaxson that she forgets the pain she's in over a her parents dying?? Right smdh.
