I cringe inwardly at being in the 2 star review section because that is where all of the awful downright homophobic reviews sit, and to be honest, that is not at all the problem I had with the show.
Literally the whole show felt like a diversity cast.
It's like the creators sat there with a check list.
• Random white guy as star lead ✓
• confident Muslim woman ✓
• transgender (and bonus, black!) Man ✓
But this is not where the problems lie.
It's that these "characters" were more like labels, or representatives of their assigned diversity positions.
In, what? Episode 3? The Muslim woman's hajib comes of while saving someone to reveal beautiful hair in a mock slow mow action scene (you kinda have to see it to know what I'm talking about)
The team then forms a wall around her to to shield her from cameras. Although the scene was endearing it totally rubbed me the wrong way in how it was portrayed and I can't describe exactly why.
Not to mention the whole story was SO incredibly dumb.
I really enjoyed the original 911. This show is nothing like it.
And because, said homophobic reviewer mentioned it, the make out scenes did get annoying quit, it's as if the show was trying to say, LOOK two man kissing on TV! We should get an award for such a accurate protrail!
Every once in a while when I have nothing else to watch I go back to this show, remember how incredibly annoying it is, and find something of higher quality to watch.
