None of the original music is found in the live version which is so dissapointing. Also what has the witch got to do with the Chinese tale? It has no place in the story. Some phrases sound so out of place. The only positive point is the cinematography that showcases China's beautiful,vast and varied landscape. All in all a great dissapointment for a much loved cartoon version.

In my opinion this is one of the best historic drama TV series ever. The acting is superb as are the props and the filming. But above all, the stories, the realities and complexities of human nature are all portrayed in a beautiful weave of suffering, love, conflicting beliefs, paradoxes of religion, strength of family and the power of fatherhood and motherhood. I never tire of the series and can watch and rewatch in absolute awe. It's a real treaure. A great pity Netflix won't renew it after the 5th season.

A series like this floods your very soul with warmth and pulls at your heart strings. They should make more of this genre. We are flooded with series about murder, mafia and drug lords these days. So something as loveable and relatable as this is a treat! You end up living every single character as though they were part of your own family.

An astounding wake up call and a much needed series on vulnerability and the cruelty of human error. The series is not just about the plight of refugees but also about mental illness and the dire need for compassion,kindness and love in such a ruthless world we inhabit. Highly recommended!
