Tyler manages to put out his best work to date with this concept album about a love triangle. The emotional themes in this record are expressed strongly and feel very real. His attitude towards the situation in most of the tracks is expressed clearly and strongly with him feeling neglected on one song and then him being filled with rage in the next. The production on this album is unique with roaring synths and majestic intros on songs like the opening track "IGOR'S THEME" or "I THINK". The production also perfectly sets the mood for the track. Tyler, the creator perfectly sums up the album with the closer "ARE WILL STILL FRIENDS" which contain grand choir-like leads mixed in with a perfect guitar loop and Tyler asking his crush if they could still be friends in a desperate manner.

After the disastrous Cherry Bomb, Tyler managed to deliver a project that is much better than the LP before this one with incredible and colorful production and meaningful lyrics. What really holds Flower Boy back from being a truly memorable album is that it doesn't really seem to end correctly with the decent instrumental in the end not contributing to the grand finale that this album deserved.
