Does no one else get X Files vibes from this show? From the general premise to the cast dynamic it basically has the same feel, albeit better written. You have Dave who is pretty much Fox Mulder and you have Kristen who of course is Dana Scully. As a bonus we get "Ben the magnificent" who is one part comic relief and one part "guy in the chair".
The characters in the show aren't overly smart, like most case shows, and they are all imperfect humans that make believable mistakes, except Kristen who I feel is determined to get her kids killed. I like the way the show, just like X Files, walks the line between fiction and truth and never quite pins down whether we're witnessing supernatural horrors or psychopathic playmakers.
The story arcs usually carry over two episodes with a main plot line that drives straight through the middle. The show also handles plot call backs well and doesn't throw in your face flashbacks into the mix.
Evil is well paced and thought provoking with a few questionable character decisions that are easily forgiven once you get to know them as the imperfect humans they are.
Evil gets a 4 out of 5 only because, though it's good now, I hope it can still get better.
