An understated but marvellous film, it captures perfectly the claustrophobia of small town, isolated domestic life--from the boy's point of view, and from his mother's. Virtually pitch-perfect acting, and a palette that accentuates beautifully, mournfully, the mood of the story. This is movie making at or near its best--a human story well told. I recommend it unequivocally.
