This movie is "okay". I enjoyed some aspects, and there are a few beautiful, touching scenes, but... What I took the most issue with, was the fact that the movie jumps all over the place. It's almost as though entire chapters are cut out of a book. You're left thinking "how did we get to this part?". A spaceship crashes in a major city, a BIG deal, and 3 days later the kids are back in school. Literally no one seems overly panicked or stressed. Just a few men arguing after a reporter (reporter!!) tries to talk with an alien. They put some thought into that 1st contact!! "It's just a spaceship in the middle of the city mom! Sheesh". What the what? This could have been a solid film. It could have been shorter, and those "what?" moments could have been eliminated.
