Little more than an average run of the mill, don't expect anything special with this film. While the idea behind it is a tried and well tested one that stands the test of time, it fails to achieve much beyond the occasional, and obvious but will still make you jump "jump scare" even then, when it does, it takes a lot of the edge off having seen it coming a mile off.
The characterisation leaves a LOT to be desired, that's not to say the acting isn't good, they are clearly talented with a Twilight alumni in one particular role but, the way they are forced to present it, along side very misshapen pacing, has it all falling very very flat.
The comedic relief is little more than crowbarred in snarkiness and forcibly over the top geekiness, it's all very generic, especially with who it comes from. On top of it all you come to an ending that leaves a lot to be desired, not only in execution, but in viewer satisfaction. This leaves you feeling rather let down especially with the all too predictable and blatant set up, for what will undoubtedly be a far less well funded follow up dumped on top like a lump of wet wool.
Or as my wife puts it "It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good either."
